ABout ME
I’m a Registered Social Worker and Psychotherapist with over 20 years of experience working in the areas of adult and children’s mental health, child abuse prevention & education, and with families experiencing custody and access disputes.
I specialize in supporting individuals, teens, and families impacted by separation and divorce, intimate partner violence, difficulties with life transitions, and parenting challenges. I also understand that difficult relationships impact one's sense of self and overall well-being. I aim to help you process your experiences, find tools to manage stress, and build healthy coping strategies.
Whether you are a parent trying to figure out what to do, feeling emotionally dysregulated, frustrated in a relationship, or just need a safe place to talk, I am here to help you sort it out.
My Approach
I use a client-centered approach and my practice is a combination of practical, insight-oriented therapy along with evidence-based techniques to foster self-awareness, guide personal growth, and create meaningful change. My work with clients is not one-dimensional, but collaborative. Working together, I will support you in setting realistic goals to feel better about yourself and your situation.
My background
I have extensive experience in children’s mental health and a commitment to child abuse prevention and education. As an educator to Early Childhood Education students at both George Brown College and Humber College, I have led trainings on their professional responsibility to report suspected child abuse. In addition, I have facilitated psycho-educational groups for families who have experienced domestic abuse and led child abuse prevention programs for elementary and middle school students in both the Toronto District School Board (TDSB) and Toronto Catholic District School Board (TCDSB) in building resilience, self-esteem, and advocacy skills.
In addition to my private practice, I have been a clinical panel member for the Office of the Children’s Lawyer (OCL) since 2016. This work has enabled me to formulate comprehensive recommendations related to custody and access disputes, address co-parenting issues, and gather the views and preferences of children (VOC reports) with families involved in family court.
I have a Master’s of Social Work from the University of Toronto (2003). I am registered with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (ocswssw.org) and follow the College’s professional standards of practice and code of ethics. I am a member of the Ontario Association of Social Workers (oasw.org) and the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts (www.afccnet.org). Additionally, I continue to obtain professional training meaningful to my practice.
My Approach
I provide psychotherapy to adults and teens on a short and long-term basis, as well as parenting support and couples counselling. I use a variety evidence-based therapeutic interventions.
